This luxurious 1960s couture red silk cotton occasion dress boasts magnificent construction, and has been custom made and hand finished. The dress is made of a heavy silk cotton fabric in a deep shade of crimson, and fully lined in silk. Exquisite tailoring at the waist creates three small gathers below each breast, to create a seamless waistband. The bodice is embellished with three oversized gemstone-cut black perspex buttons, which fall vertically below the modest round neck. The ultimate design feature of this extraordinary garment is the heavy pleating on the skirt and sleeves. The density of the pleats results in a concertina effect, lifting the shoulders and hips to create a sculpted and buoyant silhouette. There is a central zip fastening at the reverse of the gown, and a series of carefully concealed popper fastenings below the zip to secure the skirt fabric.
